*~THE HISTORY of THIS BSB SITE~*
Version 1.0 Consisted of my BSB fansite, "Backstreet_Land". I only started copying my concert review into it when I finally realized 2 weeks later that my site really stunk because AOL only lets people who use Windows use their so-called "EasyDesigner" pagebuilder, and well, I use my faithful & loyal (& NEVER-crashing) iMac, so, as you can tell, the idea of staying at AO-HELL/AO-SMELL went right down the drain.
Version 2.0 So I moved to Yahoo! Geocities. I had much more luck there than I did on AOL, but still, I felt like there was something still missing. I tried launching Their "PageBuilder" but it caused my browser to quit everytime I tried it. I wonder why, since I'm running a highly-functional machine that runs off of 512MB of RAM and dual 800Mhz processors. & Turns out, I wasn't able to customize my page as much as I would've liked to, because their "PageBuilder" only works with computers using Windows (big surprise...:::sigh::::).
Version 2.1 I Still tried my hardest to manage to keep my site good-looking on Geocities. I dont think it looked all that good. I added a little bit of clip-art, and I still didnt think that I felt like I had enough Disk Space to provide everyone with a REAL website. (Maybe that's because I made my images ENTIRELY WAY TOO BIG). I resorted to storing pics in Yahoo!Photos. I'm still using that. & I still need to downsize several images if I want to save room. I was using 68% of Yahoo!Photos storage space. I'm still using that same amount.
Version 3.0 I pack my bags & head to AngelFire (well, kinda, considering that Geocities is a butt-monkey because they don't let free members have FTP access!) I decide to make "Backstreet_Land" the front page of the site, instead of my personal site-ness stuff. I attempt starting from scratch with HTML. no luck. Then, I attempt starting a BSB discography page, and well, I dont get very far.
Version 4.0 I finally make my move to Tripod, where I finally *resign, no wait, uh, I mean reside* today. Minus the fact that Tripod doesn't let you direct-link images, and has dialed down storage disk space over time, from 50MB for free members, to 20 Megs of storage disk space today, I actually enjoy using Tripod. For once- a page/site builder that DOESN'T discrimate against people who DON'T use the Windows OS! I name the index page "Backstreet_Land".
Version 4.1 I still link yahoo! photos & get most of my site up. I dial down the resolution of file sizes big time to save on disk space, and Everything at the site seems to be coming together finally. I add a guestbook, and my index page BSB drawing.
Version 5.0 I dream up a great BSB site-title for my BSB site: BSB: The HEAVEN of HARMONIES. I also scheme up a drawing of a great site logo I was planning to put to use. I create it in Photoshop 7.0 I also create an enter site image in Photoshop 7.0. I create site banners in photoshop 7 as well.
Version 5.1 I decide that the site logo is too contrasting to put in the background of the main index page, so I go into photoshop and make a lighter version of it for background usage. I then go to Bravenet.com, and I get myself a short URL: Clik.to/BSBinHARMONY. I Tweak the URLs on my Banners. I also get my Bravenet GuestMap set up. I create the AJ banner in photoshop. I want to be able to have people to use remote-linking on my site, but, unfortunately, many servers are butt-monkeys to the under-ling free subscribers like me, so they dont allow it. I get frustrated, and then come to find out that Yahoo!Groups Will Allow you to use remote linking to the files in your groups. So I'm currently using that to remote-link my banners, and the AJ banner as well. Hehe. And sadly enough, my BSB group HAS NO MEMBERS EXCEPT FOR MYSELF!! lol
Version 5.2 I then Tweak my enter site image (a little piece of it looked a bit cruddy in quality), and the lighter version of the background logo on my enter site page. I also get a new URL to this site: fly.to/BSBinHARMONY
I'm still tweaking Version 5.2, but hey, Version 6.0 might very well be coming soon! (I'm looking into moving to another possible host server, and I'm looking into using picture trail.com to my advantage. Also, I'm going to work on getting a supportive Bri & Leighanne banner done in photoshop, tweak & upload my site banners with UPDATED URLs pasted onto them, and random tweaking here & there in my site.)
